Last Updated: [Insert Date]

At Pure Feather Aviary, the safety, comfort, and welfare of our parrots come first. This Shipping & Delivery Policy explains how collection and UK-wide delivery work, what to expect, and how responsibility is transferred. Because we transport live animals, our procedures differ from standard retail shipping.

1. Preferred Method: In-Person Collection

We strongly encourage in-person collection where possible. This allows:

  • You to meet your parrot before taking them home.
  • We reduce transport-related stress for the bird.
  • Oral care guidance and handover instructions to be provided in person.

All collections are strictly by pre-booked appointment only.

2. UK-Wide Delivery Availability

Where personal collection is not possible, we may offer UK-wide delivery using:

  • Licensed and experienced live animal transport providers, or
  • Specialist bird couriers where appropriate.

Delivery availability is assessed on a case-by-case basis depending on:

  • Distance and location.
  • Weather conditions.
  • The age and condition of the parrot.
  • Transport provider availability.

3. Delivery Costs

Delivery costs:

  • Are calculated individually based on distance and transport arrangements.
  • Will be clearly confirmed and agreed before final payment.
  • Are separate from the bird’s purchase price unless otherwise stated.

4. Dispatch & Delivery Timeframes

Delivery schedules depend on several welfare-based factors:

  • Completion of full payment.
  • Bird readiness for travel.
  • Courier scheduling.
  • Safe weather conditions.

We do not offer guaranteed next-day delivery due to the nature of live animal welfare.

5. International Shipping

At this time:

  • We primarily serve customers within the United Kingdom.
  • International exports may be considered only in exceptional cases.
  • All international shipments require full compliance with:
  • CITES regulations (if applicable).
  • Import permits.
  • Veterinary health documentation.
  • Air & animal transport regulations.

All international shipping costs and legal requirements are strictly the responsibility of the buyer.

6. Transfer of Responsibility

Responsibility for the parrot transfers to the buyer:

  • At the moment of physical handover during in-person collection, or
  • At the moment of confirmed delivery by the courier.

From this point forward, all care, veterinary costs, handling, and welfare responsibilities rest solely with the buyer.

7. Missed Deliveries & Failed Collections

If you fail to be available for:

  • A confirmed collection appointment, or
  • A confirmed delivery slot,

You may be liable for:

  • Repeat transport costs.
  • Additional boarding or care costs.

8. Weather & Welfare Delays

Deliveries may be delayed for welfare reasons including:

  • Extreme temperatures.
  • Storms or unsafe travel conditions.
  • Health concerns with the bird.

These delays are always made in the best interests of the bird and do not qualify for refunds.

9. Inspection at Delivery or Collection

You are expected to visually inspect your parrot upon handover. Any concerns:

  • Must be raised immediately at the time of handover.
  • Should be documented with photos where possible.

10. No Mixed Shipping with Heavy Accessories

For safety reasons, live birds are never shipped together with cages, heavy accessories, or large equipment.

11. Policy Updates

We may update this Shipping & Delivery Policy to reflect changes in law, courier availability, or animal welfare practices. The most recent version will always be displayed on our website.
