Last Updated: [Insert Date]
At Pure Feather Aviary, the health, welfare, and responsible placement of our parrots are our highest priorities. This Health Guarantee explains what we do before release, what is covered, what is not covered, and the responsibilities of the new owner after collection or delivery.
1. Pre-Placement Health Standards
Before any parrot leaves our care:
- The bird is visually examined for signs of illness, distress, or injury.
- Eating, droppings, behaviour, and overall condition are observed.
- Only birds appearing healthy and stable at the time of release are approved for rehoming.
2. What This Health Guarantee Covers
This Health Guarantee confirms that:
- Your parrot was in a healthy and stable condition at the time it left Pure Feather Aviary.
- The parrot was not knowingly sold with a serious, life-threatening illness.
- The parrot was bred and raised in a lawful, captive-bred environment.
3. What Is NOT Covered
This Health Guarantee does not cover:
- Stress-related illness following transport or environmental change.
- Injuries caused after collection or delivery.
- Illness caused by improper diet, temperature, sanitation, or housing.
- Behavioural issues including biting, screaming, fear, or bonding difficulty.
- Long-term genetic conditions that were not detectable at the time of sale.
4. Buyer Veterinary Responsibility
From the moment of collection or confirmed delivery:
- All veterinary care becomes the full responsibility of the new owner.
- Routine check-ups, emergency treatment, and long-term care are not included in the purchase.
- We strongly recommend registering your parrot with an avian veterinarian as soon as possible.
5. Immediate Health Concerns After Handover
If you observe any serious health concerns shortly after collection or delivery:
- Seek immediate professional care from a qualified avian veterinarian.
- Notify Pure Feather Aviary as soon as reasonably possible.
- Provide written veterinary documentation if requested.
Each case is assessed individually and in accordance with UK consumer law and animal welfare obligations.
6. No Guarantee on Personality or Talking Ability
Parrots are highly intelligent, emotional animals. For this reason:
- No guarantee is made regarding talking ability, vocabulary, or mimic skills.
- No guarantee is made regarding future temperament.
- Training success depends on time, patience, environment, and consistency.
7. Stress & Environmental Changes
Parrots commonly experience short-term stress following:
- Transport or delivery.
- Relocation into a new environment.
- Changes in food, sounds, light, and handling.
Temporary changes in appetite, vocalisation, or behaviour during adjustment are considered normal.
8. Buyer Acknowledgement
By completing a purchase from Pure Feather Aviary, the buyer confirms that they:
- Understand that parrots are living animals with complex needs.
- Accept full responsibility for the bird’s ongoing care after handover.
- Have read and agree to this Health Guarantee.
9. Guarantee Limitations
This Health Guarantee:
- Does not replace professional veterinary diagnosis.
- Does not promise future health, lifespan, or performance.
- Is limited to the condition of the parrot at the time of transfer.
10. Policy Updates
We may update this Health Guarantee from time to time to reflect changes in veterinary guidance, welfare standards, or legal requirements. The most recent version will always be available on our website.
